- Statement to voters
Wendy Chamberlain grew up in the Liberal tradition in the west of Scotland. After graduation she joined the Police service in Edinburgh. She worked as a communications lecturer at Fife College, and then for the MOD in Rosyth, supporting service personnel leaving the forces into employment. She now works for a large UK manufacturer in learning and development. Wendy said, "I am passionate about fostering skills and ambition. I will work to provide the vital local opportunities that people need to reach their potential."
At this election, the Scottish Liberal Democrats are offering positive changes, particularly in the areas of mental health, education, and supporting public services. They are the only party representing what the Scottish people voted for in the recent referendums: Yes to remaining in the UK, and Yes to remaining in the European Union.
Scottish Liberal Democrats believe that we need to focus on building a better Britain and not playing regional politics.
The Scottish Liberal Democrats will stand up to Theresa May's destructive hard Brexit, a deal that will cost jobs put up prices, and destroy future opportunities for our young people. The impact of Brexit will last for decades. Already we have seen rises in fuel prices following the slump in the value of sterling since the EU referendum.Unlike the Scottish Independence referendum, the Brexit vote offered no destination. Theresa May has set us on the most damaging course whilst Ruth Davidson and the Scottish Conservatives do nothing to represent Scotland's interests. Meanwhile the SNP use Brexit as an excuse for a second Independence referendum. Only the Scottish Liberal Democrats will give you the final say on Brexit - with the option to stay in if you don't like the deal on offer.
A vote for the Scottish Liberal Democrats will mean a vote for investments in public services, in particular education and mental health to support Scotland's future.
