Statement to voters

Andy Field’s Policy Points

1) Slash Council Waste. I am disgusted by the way our council have disrespected the people living in southwest Liskeard who have been denied access to the town centre by the construction of a multi-million pound office block in the Cattle Market. I am shocked by the huge debt our Council has grown due to the cavalier attitude to the wasteful spending of our Council Taxes, and if elected will demand an audit of where all this debt has come from
2) Social Housing for Local People. As a social housing tenant myself, I am angered by the number of Liskeard people still on the housing waiting list and why the Council feel it’s appropriate to allocate social housing to those whom they consider ‘in need’ from outside of Cornwall
3) Zero Tolerance on crime and anti-social behaviour. Liskeard is Cornwall’s most violent town. That’s official. I’m fed up with the anti social behaviour, the vandalism and how our once thriving market town has got this pole position in the county’s crime statistics. We need our hard pressed police to have additional resources and not to be forced to investigate pointless ‘crimes’ and focus on the real issues blighting our neighbourhoods.
I’ve lived and worked in Liskeard for forty years. I’ve seen our once thriving market town with a vibrant town centre deteriorate due to the lack of real investment from our Council Taxes We have a major housing crisis, parking is ludicrously expensive, the Council waste our money on pointless ‘developments’ which do nothing for the people living in the PL 14 postcode, and our social services are at breaking point. I want my town back. I want Liskeard to be a town we can be proud of. Decades of decline have been overseen by inept decisions made by ‘experienced’ councillors who have presided over years of neglect, and whose actions, and inactions seem as a testament to the apparent disrespect they have for the thousands of ordinary people like me who live in and around Liskeard. I want to fight for the people of PL14 and get back the services we need and pay for
