Statement to voters

First of all I want to send a special thank you to every single person who has made a contribution to their neighbourhood and their community before the covid-19 pandemic, during and when we move forward. I am proud to live in Chelmsley Wood and see so many making valuable contributions to every day life. This pandemic has affected us all and the efforts raised by those living in Chelmsley in particular has been remarkable. From the food parcels to the phone calls, every single one of you have made a difference.

What does this election count towards in 2022?

A Vote for Hazel Dawkins (Labour and Co-operative candidate) means a vote for someone who can deliver consistently and who isn't afraid to speak out for the sake of all residents. I have a track record through my role as town Councillor for Chelmsley Wood for the past 5 years, as well as the voluntary roles I have taken on.

I am not part of the establishment and came into politics to change other lives for the better. It may for example be issues like fly tipping which has a devastating impact on the environment and also socially. I have taken on private landlords and the council who have tried to enforce illegal evictions or haven't been consistent with keeping homes to a reasonable standard. I have spoken on charities and local organisations who lost out on funding due to the poor tender by the council and subsequently have closed as well as local transport links with the previous Police and Crime Commissioner.

My life experience has taught me that to make change I must be part of the change. I have seen what the Conservatives have done locally for children as well as SEND Children and it has been unacceptable. As a parent to two including an SEND child, I can see change must happen.

Labour stands locally as being part of the community and local roots. A vote for Labour in May 2022 will ensure that voice is carried through.
