Statement to voters

I am one of the current Labour City councillors for Pennsylvania, and I am honoured to have been selected to stand again in May 2023.

I have strong local roots being Exonian born and bred. I have lived on Rosebarn Lane since 2004 and have previously lived at Manston Rd in Polsloe both addresses being within the ward.

I believe it is important for local councillors to have links in their community.

I currently have an allotment on the Marypole and Mincinglake site and am a supporter and committee member of Sylvania Community Stores and Café off Collins Rd.

I have met with members of the Stoke Hill and Polsloe community associations and have supported a number of community projects through ward councillor grants. I welcome the City Council support of Exeter Connect which is part of Exeter Community Initiatives.

Green issues, the protection of our environment, sustainable housing development and Exeter’s net zero Carbon 2030 Target remain at the centre of my priorities.

The current threat from developers to the Mincinglake Valley Park and the northern hills of Exeter must be resisted.

I believe the City Council must continue to pressure the County Council to green up our transport systems and pressurise Stagecoach regarding its very poor current level of service and high costs in our ward.

The needs of our children must always be prioritised. Play equipment in council owned play areas has recently been improved and I and my fellow Labour Councillors are currently pressing Persimmon Homes who are responsible for Priory Park to replace equipment in the childrens play area and generally maintain the park to a much higher standard.

I look forward to speaking to many more of you in the next few months. Please do not hesitate to contact me with any local issues that are causing you concern. Your Pennsylvania Labour team are here to help.
